    Investment schemes

    Hi all!
I need some advice from those of you who know. Let me tell you the story:
I got a phone call the other day from a chap allegedly calling for a company with the name of Idelson-Group, a Hong Kong based Cash Management (or something like that) Service provider. I don't even know how they got hold of my phone number. He wanted to convince me to invest my money into some resources dealt on the Taiwan Options and Future Exchanges. He was promising incredibly good results and profits to be made. All sounds to good to me, actually.
Well, I am, of course, very wary not to invest my hard-earned money into some obscure scheme I never have heard of before. In addition to this, I have absolutely no, really no, understanding of the financial market at all. I can keep my household's and business' economy balanced and never fail to pay my bills, but I am not an investor or speculator, I have difficulties to understand all the obvious and less obvious connections between ups and downs, bonds, funds and so on. I admit it freely (obviously sometimes "insiders" seem to have similar difficulties as it appears to me).

My question now, does anyone of you have any experience with those schemes? Made or lost some money though it? How do those schemes work? Where is the catch? I am grateful for any explanation as all this seems very confusing to me.
    Ta!
    Johannes

Ponzi comes to mind and I'm imaging an Asian Madoff.

Does have a Nigerian flavour the more I look.

If you want to double your money here's my advice. Fold it in half and put it in your pocket.

    Regards
    Andrew

I think I had an email from his brother in Nigeria, and a call from his sister at Microsoft. Both were very helpful.
His sister was able to find and fix many things that were wrong with my computer and only charged me $200.
I'm currently waiting on the brother to put the money in my account.

Sounds like you are onto a winner with the Taiwan stock exchange. I'm sure it will work out well..

    Investment Scheme

Hi Jojo, let me tell you about my intelligent good friend who got a phone call from London regarding a gold exchange scheme or something like that.
He spoke to the "manager" for many months and also received documents about the company from England .
Invested $40,000 . Never heard from them again, phone went dead.
    Lost the lot!!!

    Get my point?

    Cheers, Peter.

Don't you have to choose investments when you put your money in the bank overt here?, where as here you can leave it in the bank and get interest.

These schemes work by taking all the money you invest. What's the catch? There is no catch, you lose all your money, they get all your money - its that simple.

If you want to invest anywhere other than leaving your money in the bank, then you would need to educate yourself, get lots of advice from several sources then make your own decisions.

The rip off stories you hear about, are of people that blindly trust what they hear from one source and put all their eggs in that basket hoping to get rich quick. If it sounds too good to be true, it is!!

My brother invests in shares using this service:

Australian Share and Gold Market Trading Signals | Market Timing - Australia's Own Share and Gold Market Timing Service

and choosing a suitable managed share fund like the Colonial Fist State Wholesale Indexed Australian share fund, matched to the ASX200.

This takes a lot of the risk out of investing in shares and smooths out the big falls - you don't need to research companies at all, you dot try to 'pick winners' and the market timing service tells you when to buy and sell.

    Cheers

    Google came up with this;

below my report to the Hong Kong Police :

    Dear sir, madam :

I like to report a serious economic international crime
I have been contacted several times a day by a mr Chris Hovis, who claims to be working for the Idelson Group .
They are very consistent to sell me limited risk Options on an Oil share named RBN13.
The minimum input is 5000 dollar. They even try to sell me a loan for this money.
He shows me a website of the Idelson – group, based in Hong Kong. The profits promised are high. ( around 15000 dollar) Also the stakes are high as they build up pressure when the price goes up every cent . ( www.idelson-group.com) and (www.twofx.org )
It seems that the company is not legally on the stock broker market. In the Netherlands it is prohibited to sell options on the phone. I think we are dealing with Boiler room Froude.

    Idelson group address is :
    1A Harbour street, 2166 8000 Hong kong.
The phone number he gave me for reference was : +852- 81929842
    Mail address: chris.Hovers@idelson-group.com
    Caller: Idelson group
    Call Type: Telemarketer
