I can't remember the exact dates and don't have the journal article in front of me, but by memory carbon dating placed them around 3,500 years old. Easily recent enough for cave paintings to be depicted and survive. The Marsupial Lion remains in the same caves are dated at between 500,000 and 780,000 years old.

My Uncle is a mango farmer near Gympie and reckons he's seen a big black cat with a long tail a couple of times but for some reason the police often fly over looking for illegal crops, so it could have just as easily been a giant penguin, chinese dragon or batman.
Marsupial lion remains found elsewhere throughout Australia are as recent as 45,000 years ago yet their ancestors go back 21,000,000 years. As I said the rock images were disputed but they have a different head structure to the Tasmanian Tiger (that is more dog-like). Two images don't make it a fact, just as a few sink-holes in the area of Australia only add to understanding remains found in them. As more areas are prospected for fossils and with chances like winning Lotto more remains may be discovered.

Of course, they could be inter-dimensional beings who just pop into our time space continuum for a snack?

    It sounds reasonable to me.

The most compelling argument for extra terrestrial intelligence is that they haven't contacted us

We climbed the one at Ephisus and I took a photo for a Greek couple infront of the other one, which was the prop from "Troy"
And you leave me and my blue drinks alone, you second hand electric donkey bottom biter!

Ephesus, hey? Wasn't there when we went, but that was about 8 years ago now. Very interesting place to visit though.

Indeed. I went there in 2011, throughly enjoyed my time there
We had a bus driver, named "Captain". Best driver I have ever seen.
But I didn't see any big cats.......
    And we're back on topic

Look I've never claimed I've seen anything more then "a freak of nature" all I've said is I've seen some BIG ferals, I've even managed to explode a few with 39gr sierra blitz kings from my .204, and this is all I've ever said and all I ever will say till someone can bring forward true evidence.....

All I saw was a half eaten sheep up a tree and there were definate claw marks up the tree and enough evidence for a vet to say it was some type of cat,

Beyond that I'm not saying anything cause I didn't see how it got there

Truthfully I'm quite sceptical about what it is and how it got here, but I can also say that I hope me or someone else can bang one of these "true" big cats in Australia (would be even better with photographic/video of the shoot) so that we can test the animal and determine what exactly they are? As far as I'm aware all the big cats that have been tested so far have all been from domestic lines?

And from some of the pics I've seen over the years there have been some pretty huge cats shot
