    That is certainly no moggy!!
Would love to have seen it up against a ruler for scale.

Definitely an interesting find. Do you still have the skull?

I've seen a few big ferrals but I have had two instances that stand out.
One was on a night drive to York (East of Perth). We were chatting away when something coloured dirty white and as big as a Labrador ran across the road and bounded to the top af a strainer post on the side of the road. The post would have been about 1.8 meters tall and the "cat" had no probs jumping to the top. It stopped to look at us and we it in the spotlight. It was quite shaggy too. Of course as I opened the door to attempt to grab a rifle it took off.
Another time (and quite near where Andy_D110 probably worked) a mate and I were "stalked" for about 1km by something weighty enough to snap some pretty damn thick twigs. This was at dusk and due to my mate cr@ppin himself we beat a hasty retreat to the vehicle which was on the top of a hill. From the top we could hear something growling (catlike) from some dense scrub and we could see green eyes reflected in the spotlight but no one was game to get in any closer. We did not camp out that night!

Hahah! Not my choice. I was once woken up by a mate saying there was a mountain lion under she sheep shed we were sleeping in.
Went out and let of a shot and big feral cat darted out and took off. Made the mistake of looking back at us from the top of a rock to see what had startled it....nite-nite puss-puss!

People stressing the 'long tail' need to rethink. My own cat has a tail that is as long (relative to her body) as a puma's. Her paws are as large (relative to her body) as a puma's. Her head is round like a puma's. She's really a big, boof of a cat, nothing elegant about her at all. Considering we trapped and shot a feral cat the size of the farm dogs on my uncle's farm when I was a kid, I've no doubt that feral cats can grow big enough to be confused for a puma - said farm was in the Mallee, ferals in more lush areas could be expected to be bigger.

    woo-woo, flim-flam, rubbish.

you all know they don't exist.

they live with extra terrestials , ghosts , god, astral travel, perpetual motion machines , and all the other goobledygook that minds conceive but can't perceive.

Went out and shot 4 rabbits on Saturday night at the farm and as it was so cold thought I would leave them on the back of the ute and clean them in the morning. Went out and saw a very large black feral cat jump off the back of the ute. I had a look and all four heads had been eaten.

The rabbits were all head shot so maybe it liked the meat a bit tenderised.

I have seen a feral cat up there which was at least a metre long. As usual, when I don't have a rifle nearby.
