    "That's not a Land Rover. Now...that's a Land Rover....."

    Sorry if this story has already made the rounds, but I just saw it and thought it worth posting:

    The Land Rover sports car that's more powerful than a Ferrari | Mail Online

    Ordinarily I am not that keen on departing too far from the original "Land Roveriness" with bizarre modifications...... But in this case I am won over by three words:

    Land, Rover, Merlin.

    I hope they've got a healthy stock of axles.

    Hmmmm. Yes it's ok, but you'd still have the TD5 tractor owners swearing that theirs are faster

    Hey, I'll have you know I got to 100 in 23 seconds tonight, even have video proof
    It's an old article.
    I think they tried to do it but it didn't work out, ended up having a Rover V8 in it and they just made the nose longer for ****s and giggles.
    That was the last I'd heard of it, but I still want it

    Bet the handling with 7:50/16 bar treads would be a little dodgy

    23 seconds? Jeez, any longer and you'd have been better off using a calendar than a stopwatch.

    Well that's a bit disappointing. Not really much of a result then...

    I still hope to see a Merlin-engined Landy one day, combining power, practicality, a good turning circle and the capability to perform long range bombing sorties over Germany without fighter escort.

    Whoa! Has no-one told you that the Germans are friendly these days?

    I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

    A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

    I like the official Land Rover statement;

    A spokeswoman for Land Rover said: ‘We have had no involvement in this project. classic! With the original suspension & gearbox etc., 700 hp engine, or more, more a Kamakazi than a L.R. . Must have been April 1st. Bob
