Julie Covington set the standard, that to date, no singer has matched.

Julie was offered the role after releasing the song, but declined fearing she would never be able to match the previous effort. The woman was one of the all time greats.

We can John, with no hard feelings, it wouldn't do for everybody to have the same opinions.
Elaine Paige also did a good version, albeit with her own interpretation. It was Madonna's crowning glory too, but none of the aforementioned had the power in their voices to expess the feeling that Julie instilled.
While Karen's rendition is beautiful, it's not the right song for her.

Karen was a wonderful singer, she's toward the top of my playlist and I find it hard to choose her best song, but tonight it's this one.

No video for this one, but it's Karen. She ain't my favourite ( you would probably shudder, old as you are ), but she was astonishing.

My favourite ( don't hate me. I can't help it ) didn't make a lot of vids. Here's one.

Yes, that is Donald Sutherland. Ms Bush had no trouble getting big names involved with her projects.
