Seven months ago I decided to move into an [almost] new apartment to be close to work. It's on the first floor and as part of the lease there is one allocated parking space in the basement.
There's been a few annoying dramas which have been unexpected given the pitch and price of the whole complex, but what ****s me is that some bastard always parks in my allocated parking space. The building is at max occupancy and everyone has one or two spaces allocated - yet some people think that it's their right to let visitors into the secure carpark.
Management have taken steps in the past to see that this doesn't occur, but it's basically impossible to regulate. One of the big drawcards of this place was the security in what is a slightly rougher part of Melbourne. I always have to run a big risk leaving my car out on the street.
Basically off the back of that, I'm jack sick of the joint and just want to leave. I have another seven months of the lease remaining. Am I shooting myself in the foot in terms of future rentability if do this? Is it going to burn me financially? It's my first rental in my name. I'm looking at buying a place in the next few months anyway so it might be a moot point.
Any ideas?
You've got a Landrover, tow it out.
Yep, renting strata title flats is a mugs game. My opinion.
I used to live in a flash joint like this in Cairns a while ago. It was right across the road from the Casino in the centre of town. When people parked in my spot I parked my Nissan Patrol behind them. One time I did this on a Friday and went away for the weekend. I paid a lot of rent to live there so I had no sympathy.

I know the place. I lived in Cairns One, if you know of that complex up there and it was the same BS deal with parking.
Thing is here I'm not game to do anything rash (park behind, tow/winch out) as the demographic is predominantly from the "middle azimuth of 90 degrees".
Yep bastards - you need to install your own bollard:

4 flat tyres quickly makes them think twice.
While parking some one in may seem a good way to stop this kind of problem let me tell what happened to a frind of mine.
He hired two utes to move some furniture, at some point someone parked one of the utes in. As it was about time to get some dinner they parked in the cuprilt with the second ute and went off to find a feed. They came back an hour or so latter thinking they would find the cuprlit waiting for them. What the found was a smashed window, the ute put in neutral and rolled back and the cuprlit gone. After a lot of cursing they relised that no one wrote down the number plate of thr car.
So beware not everyone is as honest as a landrover owner hehe
hire a set of mechanics wheel trollies, lift up the vehicle and just push it somewhere else.
The one time I had to live in accomodation like that every body got very very sick of me returning home at 0200 and going door to door with a loud hailer asking for the car in my spot to be moved.
problem started on monday and was solved by wednesday.
