I should have also stated that I don't have my trailer linked to my e-tag so wondered if a trailer fee would be added to the car's e-tag at the time.

I think you will find that the system registers the height and the number of axles.

If there are three or more axles and the height over 2 metres you will get charged the truck rate.

So much for having a Defender with a roof top tent and a box trailer, you get charged the same rate as a B-Double with 30 wheels.
