So long as they speak it and don't have to know how to spell it, eh?

That looks like a good example of schooling in the 1980's where if it sounds right and looks almost right, then the teacher let it by, our daughter grew up in that era, and we spent countless hours teaching her to spell right through Primary and grammar during High School

    Aah! progress

This country was built on immigrants. Think Snowy River scheme. After WW2, thousands came out, from Europe. Not just the British Isles. However, and this is where it gets a bit non politically correct. Almost all were of the same religious persuasion. Throw into the mix great numbers of different religious persuasion, and then throw in radical religious leaders, you start a festering sore. And that is not a go at any people, just an observation about humans. The majority of Vietnamese accepted by Australia, were Catholics. They slotted into our society rather seamlessly. It was reported by the ABC, that the current spate of shootings in Sydney have been initiated by an Afgan element, in a particular group, who have a radical leader, and the shootings are an effort to bring the non radical element into line. I am sure, the majority of Muslim immigrants to this country are here for the right reasons, they just need these radicals out of their faces. The problem we face IMO, is sorting the radicals from those who just want to have a better life for themselves, & their children, Especially their children. Our challenge is to sort these decent people from the those who just want to cause strife. I have to admit, I'm not sure our Government, of either persuasion, is up to the task. In the meantime, I believe it is up to the average citizen in this country to ensure the genuine refugees are accepted, & helped to assimilate in this country. Just my thoughts, Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Maybe we can give all the radicals a motorbike each and send them to Queensland as a group, sure Campbell will sort them out

Campbell is slowly unravelling, only the massive majority is on his side, Bob. [ not a political statement, mods]

What if they claim they are being threatened with violence? Would you try and at least authenticate their story before throwing them out?

There's a difference between correct spelling and punctuation, and grammatical sophistication
And if it's not a word, Davo can spell it however he likes
As for the topic at hand....

We need to find a suitable method for fulfilling our requirements as a nation with our own interests, in terms of economic and operational security, as well as being an active and responsible global citizens in terms of human rights and seeking asylum, which is NOT illegal.
I say we need to find one, because the current system sure as **** isn't good enough, and the one before it wasn't much better.
