Sorry to be a negative nancy, but 2 things high on my list of BS are:

"My mate said, told me or did"

    "Land Rover Dealers"

Always some Peter Rick who wants to pop people's dream bubbles. Now uniformed if LR did offer a runout model end of era defender with either the 2.7 tdv6 or the 3.2 td5 with a choice of 6 man or 4-5 spd autos( which would be more reliable the old 4 or New 5 spd auto from bt50\ranger?) you wouldn't consider it?

I would but the likely hood of LR tooling up for major changes just for an end of model run out are zip - but as you said, we can all dream.

They would only have 2 problems:
1, supplying enough to meet demand!

2, getting rid of the old 4 cyl ones.
Maybe a third of fitting an auto ,which would at least double sales, from either Ford for people who would rather steer than drive.
I'd be on the list to try and get one, 7 seat 6spd man, 110 blue or bronze, tint, arb bar, Mulgo sliders, winch, snorkel etc
Agree, it's "around", but JLR ain't gonna put any of it into a pre 2015 "Current" Defender.

    page 1, post #6……

I have said many times how I would love the 3.2 ford duratorque and its 6 speed in the defender, or even the 2.7/3.0 tdv6 from LRs own line up.

Sorry for being somewhat of a realist, but having been around LRs, car dealers and knowing a little about LRs History, I find it hard to believe that there even exists a factory test mule of a V6 defender….

I agree with you, ...in a "current" Defender it simply ain't gonna happen.
If it was "gonna happen", it should've happened 6-7 years ago.
However, if JLR are putting "new generation" powertrains into "old" architecture, to test for future models, well then that is a different kettle of fish, because if any future "Defender" is going to be competitive, they will need this sort of stuff......but if ya want my "honest" opinion, I do not believe that any such factory "trial" V6 "Defender" exists.
    Cheers, Pickles.

To those who are saying "it can't possibly be...", this is surely something that can be proved very easily. If your mate saw it at a dealer, then it must be here officially. So a call to LRCS to find out where your nearest 'mule' will prove it one way or another.

next gen? I thought the defender as we know it is being killed in 2015 and the all new monocoque IFS/IRS coming in?

If so, do you think they will spend the dollars on a vehicle that sells less in a year world wide than others sell in a month in one country.

I doubt calling any dealers or JRA/LRA is going to uncover any real facts either.

I would like to see pics, and while you are taking them and talking to the dealer , let them know that 100% of the LR community and some that are not would love a bigger engine in the Defender.
