It will be interesting how it affects the new housing development there. I recall the mill itself was to have been part or the commercial development.

Bellvue Hotel in George St for Parlimentians Accommodation in Joh era,but what better way to get rid of any Fibro- asbestos contamination, Phuf, up in smoke to settle all over Brisbane and a lot easier to demolish, I wonder who is doing the demolishing, are the Dean Bros still around?

Yeah the thought that a developer might be behind it is obvious....

    What's funny as ?!

The piccies in the press do not show it as they are all taken from the street side.

On the railway side there is a huge (3 storey) promotional poster advertising the proposed development as "the hottest property in Brisbane" or some such !

Didn't get the phone out quick enough - a pic of that with the firemen pouring water in the windows and smoke rising out of the top ? Priceless !

Brisbane seems to have a tradition of this sort of thing - perhaps some remember the BCC's method of changing from trams to buses? As those too young may remember, it was by the overnight incineration of most of the tram fleet.
