Well Minerva seems to be middle of the pack, offshore from Tathra at the moment !
Keep it going lads !
If the conditions are good enough for me to get my phone out, I'll definitely take some pictures. In 2011 one of the lads had a waterproof digital camera so I'm hoping he brings it this time.
Channel 7 broadcast the race - well, the start at least. Channel 9 broadcast the cricket.
Presenters on all channels seem to talk a lot about race records and 1998. Jessica Simpson was the toast of 2011, not sure who will be their media darling this year, probably the Spirit of Mateship (and so they should be), and there'll be a lot of talk interspersed with "Wild Oats" Wild Oats" "Race record" "Loyal" and "Wild Oats".
If we're lucky they might find a 40-footer with some ordinary blokes on it and interview them….all hungover and stuffed full of turkey.
We'l be over at the RSYS in Kirribilli enjoying the lack of queues for the facilities! Got to lose as much weight as possible before the off!
God I love this race. Getting excited now.

Yup! Vlad
according to the race positions Minerva is in 36th position, and making 5.4 Knots, so not doing to bad for a 45 footer in a field of 95 after 2 retirements shortly after the start![]()
Wild Oats XI has just past Tranmere/Howrah on it's way to finish line.
I thought they said they were not expecting them to arrive until sunday. Just watching the footage now
Minerva sitting 29th now with 84nm to go, currently doing 7.4 knots, I hope for their sake they have a daylight finish. 29th is pretty good, I was in a far larger boat in my year, and from memory we finished mid 40's.
Kenley
Yep! she's battling it out with Derry-Londonderry-Doire![]()
Lookin' good...
Still a stiff westerly on the Derwent.
40nm to go, my bet is some on board are becoming very thirsty. In very late tonight, I think it will be a very brief tidy up on the boat, some well deserved drinks and we'll finish the boat tomorrow.
