well i took the shorty for a belt around the traps tonite and i have to say i am inpressed.

yep the sime konvoys are noisy, about as noisy as rockets bar treads. You can hear the whine kick in at about 30-40mph and hit pavoroti pitch at 60mph.

bit more vibration transmitted into the cab as well on the highway, which i expected. This was much better after i lowered the tyre pressure from 28psi to 26psi on the fronts. left the rears at 28psi.

steering is way better i have to say, much lighter that with the 750r16 dunlop adventurers and i havent done the toe in adjustment yet for the cross-plys. might leave it alone i think

i am running modified rims that increase the track of the vehicle and that has decreased the rock and roll a fair bit.

offroad and the sime konvoys are way nice ....

hit some muddy tracks a few mile up the road from here and we just drove on thru like it wasnt there, the dunlop adventurers were everywhere, slipping and sliding when i tried them at the same spot on the weekend, immense improvement.

then off into the sand, didnt seem any worse than the dunlops and didnt have to let them down so they appear at least as good as the dunlops, but i expect they would dig in way quicker if you did start to go down.

off bribie and up to beerburrum and a rocky creek bed i played in a few weeks ago. truly marvellous improvement over the dunlop adventurers. nearly got myself into some trouble climbing out over the creek bank, am used to it slipping and the sime konvoys bit and nearly launched me into low orbit. Bump stops on the springs work

handling at speed seems very similar, but i didnt push the point.

no damp roads encountered so havent had a chance to check that out.

all in all i am pretty impressed i have got to say.

great value at $160 bucks each including new tubes fitted and balanced .

be interesting to see how many k's they last for.

Incisor (you knew this was coming didn't you  ), could you keep track of performance and distance for a long term tyre test for the newsletter?

It would be an interesting read, especially over time, and for people like me looking to get them.

How bad was the highway noise compared to the old tyres?

    mutter mutter.....

yeah okay i will TRY to keep a log....

noise, they are not quiet, nor would you expect them to be with that sort of tread pattern. they sound very similar to bar treads for some reason

i have heard cruisers go past with far louder noise that these were making tho.

I've often heard a strange humm noise all of a sudden, and looked to the right to see another vehicle go past. You really can hear more noise from outside through the soft top.

I had a ute go past one day with a palette ot files or something on the back wrapped in plastic (like big gladwrap). Whilst it was in my blind spot, I heard this huge "CRACK", I thought, oh no, here we go. But it was just the plastic where a piece had come loose and was flicking around in the wind.

You know I had completely forgotten about that

Might try and get Devil_Kin to write something about his konvoys as well, but I suspect that he is too lazy to do that.

You know, you would have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for vlad Incisor
