A two door, 6 cylinder Holden Torana, bought it in Darwin, took us to Kakadu & back , with a boat on the roof, over to Mandorah, down to tumbling waters, heaps of times, the best thing? It just kept going. Bob

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Were they made or assembled in Aust? I know the Mini K and later Cortinas were made here but not sure of the rest.

    Yes, have a look HERE
My first job in Australia was in the factory in Zeltan.
The 850 started 1961 the Cooper and Cooper S were made in Australia and supplied to the Australian and NZ police.
Was in 1965 when the Australian model was revised and the wind down window introduced

The Cortina GT500 was the answer to the British Cortina Lotus

I have a 2008 Toyota Camry, which may be a boring 4 cyl car, but it is so reliable! had a new VE commodore sportswagon, it was nice too, but I had it back to the dealer within 2 weeks for a faulty tailgate latch

    Anything XA/XB/XC Falcoon.
Must be a V8.Love the hardtops most of all.
I think its the classic "coke bottle" styling of these cars that I most like.
Then again,I really like the very last GTs,GTR spec.Unfortunately they say no more GTs in the final falcoon run, just XR8s with the left over GT bits

Great vehicle for off-road and like the Defender, easily added to and modified to make whatever sort of machine you want.

Do tractors count in this discussion? If so, you can't go past the Chamberlain 9-G. Can almost keep up with a Series I when travelling on the road, and is a great machine to drive on-road or in the paddock.

Have to agree with both Rurover!! OKA's are great, and yup a Chamberlain is a vehicle, so my choice would be the Super 90! 3 cyl super charged Detroit... And when they are on form, Christ they pull!!

I miss my GT500 Cortina, it was my second car at 17 years of age, the first was a factory 4 door Mk1 GT Cortina, handed down from my uncle for free......those were good days
