Would you take an average number of years served by a person of this dogs age, calculate a certain number of years and then apply his 1/4 remission and all the other remissions he can get. I've heard of prisoners that actually knock back the chance of parole, because with some lengths of sentences they only, with remissions, have to serve a few more weeks/months and they are out on full time served and are not bound by the conditions of parole.
I don't believe in Mandatory or Minimum sentences, what I want to see is judges reflect the horror of the crime and the feelings of the public, and if there is no death penalty, sentence these bastards, who will never be rehabilitated and will certainly re-offend, to a Life sentence, "For the term of your natural life", only way out is in a pine box, Regards Frank.
Each state will have a formula in the legislation. In WA for up to 6yrs it used to be 2yrs parole, 2 yrs remission and 2 years in jail. Longer sentences had a different formula because I think either parole or remission was a maximum of 2yrs which affected the time served. So basically anyone getting a 6yr sentence would only serve 2yrs in jail.

I agree when it comes to parole it should be a lot harder to get. My wife was a bank teller involved in an armed robbery and the 2 scum involved were on parole and had 5 parole breaches between them on previous stints yet they kept getting let out because they would do the courses and say the right things to the parole board and then continue on their merry way.

Remission is different. Working in a prison is a horrible job and you need a carrot to help make it a bit safer. When you work there it's a different world and you have to be able to get on with these scum and put your own prejudices and beliefs aside.

Personally I think life should be life and with pedophiles they should be castrated or put to death. Not everyone will agree with that but the damage they do is worse than murder in my opinion. Most murderers it will be the first crime they have committed (serial killers, sociopaths and psychopaths aside) and they tear themselves apart with guilt over what they have done.

I didn't think it was, the same descriptions could be applied to the vast majority of our weak useless over paid pollies in every state. They often spout about increasing maximum penalties conveniently forgetting that judges never give maximums, they should be aiming at the minimums but I suspect the judges would find a away around giving them as well.
No ranting by us will make any of them take notice as they too busy pandering to the Greens and bleeding heart mob.

ANOTHER ROCK SPIDER GETS STUFF ALL TIME

The qld court system sets its standards even lower. a teacher at a school near rockhampton sexual abused a boy over a 9 year period got charged today and only got 9 years with parole in 3 years. How the hell is that justice? if these over paid useless pollies would do something instead of speaking crap all the time these sick bastards would get what they deserve. if it happened to one of their kids i bet things would be different. the qld government wont even have a sex offenders register why is this state so soft on crime? bring back the death sentence so our kids can have some sort of safety.

Yep, a real sad state of affairs, Newman and Bleijie can instigate laws overnight basically to disband OMCG but when it comes to sex offender laws the comment I saw was "We are looking into it, it's complicated" CRAP!!, it's just as easy to change the laws to put scum like this away for life no parole.

Another cop out from our government, remember Derryn Hinchs catch cry, "Who's looking after the children"

right on bud. blokes on harleys dont worry me kiddie fiddlers do. that IDIOT newman can change laws overnight to target ANYONE on motorbikes or has tatts. i also noticed the laws quickly changed to stamp out synthetic weed so why is this so different? these perverts need to know that this sick crime will not be tolerated. this wasnt cowens first time doing this vile activity he will be out in 20 years and only in his 60s and he will do it again pathetic court system. before anyone tells me dont worry he will get sorted out in jail my good mate has been a prison guard for 17 years and tells its not as bad people think. no where near as bad as the pain the victims family feels.
