Thanks Incisor. So you are a geek!!!!

Agree, maybe I need to harden up my install. I can only go by my windows vs linux experience and say it is better for security. Even if equally vulnerable, the pleasure of using a well laid out desktop and menu system leaves windows for dead - I have win 8 and I shake my head...

Must check out your solaris...hey! is that you moving my mouse around and plllllllaaaayyyyinnnn gggg with my key borrrrreeeed sillllly. Stop ot!

More seriously. How do we know you're not an NSA operative?? Reading up on the basis of your comments I came across some threads written not by the conspiratorial nutters, but respected people in the industry. There is a real struggle to maintain confidentiality across the board. Intelligence agencies and others are working, for example, to get their people into key positions in organisations to implement back door accesses. They are putting out program compilers that will attempt to do the same thing. Spy code into chips on the motherboards etc. I'm guessing you are already aware of this and more.

install start8 on your windows 8 machine and life becomes less frustrating for the grand sum of US$4.99

i use win8 and xp every day, mac osx everyday, bsd and solaris several times a week...

osx is by far the winner in the usability stakes...
