Well, we made it home yesterday. 5560 Miles in the Jeep Liberty and 2992 Miles in the Explorer.
Visited 15 states in 6 weeks, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, California, Nevada, Arizona.
The First Australian we met was in San Francisco 5 weeks into the trip waiting for a cable car.
Fuel varied between $3.30 a gallon in Louisiana and $4.65 a gallon in Santa Barbara California.
Traffic was worst in Atlanta and LA.
We drove home from Sydney in a Territory which was an interesting contrast to the Explorer, we both got in and commented how narrow it was, half way home I realised that it was a diesel which, I guess is a pretty good ad for the quietness and smoothness of the TDV6 under the bonnet. The trim was positively at the poverty pack level when compared with the XLT Explorer though.
Some interesting thoughts we've had since we have been back:
Went shopping this morning and noticed that everyone else wasn't the size of a house.
We could buy chicken chips. We paid $5.00 a packet for a couple of packs and $13.00 for a tube of Vegemite in San Jose. The Vegemite kept us sane from sugary bread and bloody waffles for breakfast and there was a minor panic when we realised we would run out.
Although Bacardi 151 is a reasonable substitute for Bundy and is cheap enough at $25.00 a bottle, nothing beats the taste of duty free OP Bundy.
People in Australia actually have some awareness in carparks and don't just wander around in front of 2 ton motor vehicles.
The US has a much better selection and quality of fruit and veggies at the supermarkets. The steak is also much better in supermarkets than it is here, I ate better quality steak from the supermarkets in the US than I have had from some restaurants here.
Thanks for reading my ramblings

Tote
