I don't mind the repeats as it allows me to find the programme I just missed. I do like being able to series link a TV series so I don't miss any episodes.

Also, whilst away on holiday, we can also program the boxes from overseas/interstate to record programmes we'd like to see when we get back.

Ads aren't a problem - we fast forward through them at x30 speed. We record everything we want to watch and watch it later - it's especially good at reducing the 1 hour evening news to about 20 mins after one FFs through the adverts, promos, sports, and stories one doesn't want to watch, e.g., Schapelle Corby when she was the topic of the moment.

It annoys me that we can't tailor our own Foxtel package. We have to take the kids and music channels to get what we do watch. We'd be happy to lose the news channels which we don't watch, either.

We would take Speed if we didn't need to buy it with a sports package but we don't watch sport - so we don't buy the sports pack.

You can do all this with free to air with the right equipment. We only ever had Austar (regional equivalent) in one place because we couldn't get reliable free to air with out a 30m mast. I agree with the comments about repeats though, after a couple of months you've seen every show three times. Unless your hooked on sport, or some other specialist channel, your better off downloading what you want to watch.

I'll be cutting off my Foxtel soon for all of the perfectly valid reasons already given. I've also decided I don't want Rupert Murdoch to get anymore of my money.....rich people hate that you know?

Well, if we were at home we'd have something to watch - either on tonight or already recorded - my IQ box is almost full of programmes I've recorded.

At the hotel in Brisbane tonight, there is absolutely nothing on free to air that I want to watch.

The cost of Foxtel is far too high.

What about that ice age thing on ABC1 hosted by Dr Alice Roberts.
    (She was in "Time Team".)

Like I said, nothing I want to watch.

Elisabeth will watch "I, Human" on SBS. I'll put in earplugs so I don't have to listen.

It depends what you want it for...

I watch a lot of sport, so it's worth it for me.

The repeat factor is probably worse than FTA TV.

There are definitely a few good shows on their you would otherwise miss also.

If you are still enjoying foxtel and have been with them for ages, try quit. Within a week or two they'll make you an offer to stay that's hard to turn down.

IMHO apart from sport coverage, in particular motor sport and offshore power boat racing Foxtell is over priced and badly programmed, all the same issues that have been said before, repeat after repeat, some of the programs like American Chopper and American Hot Rod are over 6 years old and I had seen them when I first had foxtell in the mid 2000's.

I had read once that it is running at around 30% subscription rate, so I guess they need more ads to make the revenue, but more and more I hear of people opting out, interestingly lately I have been able to find quite a few Doco's on You Tube and generally on the net...... basically I agree with most, overpriced, not flexible enough and poor programming.

I watch very little free to air as there is very little that they have that I want so I want the other channels that are on Foxtel, e.g., Nat Geo, Discovery, TurboMax, UKTV, 13th Street, etc.

I watch absolutely no sport - I loathe sport.
