G'Day Marko66.
X3 for the Perentie.
As above for the benefits of the 300Tdi, but with the galv chassis, 4BD1 (with T?).
A 'Senior Commander' gives you 5 seats, dual batteries and 100amp, 24v alternator, PTO winch with over-load cutoff.
A handy bloke like you could add AC for $500.
It doesn't have PAS, but again, a handy bloke like you...approx $400.
Has jerry racks on the back, you can replace the underslung spare with a drop-tank and stick a wheel carrier on the back.
Go and have a squiz at the 51FNQR depot, I am sure you know someone there.
Their RFSVs can have a Wagon body swapped on pretty easily, you will just have to remove the battery/ storage trays from behind the front seats. they also have a stronger, 4pin and braced front diff.
Slap some update headlight surrounds and a Custom front bar and you have a better than current vehicle at approx 1/2 the price.
Most SC are sold. Expect to pay about $20-25K for one + costs for AC and PAS.
A Rebuilt RFSV will set you back about $20K has PAS, needs AC and a wagon body.
Make sure you buy an ex 51 car from Cns or Innisfail, not Atherton. That one is mine![]()

T-model ford it is then!!! As the saying goes "bury me with my t-model ford, as there hasn't been a hole it hasn't got me out of"
It may be me but it sounds like there isn't a vehicle off the shelf or easily modded that fills the requirements. Maybe a tricked up County- I used to have one with a 4.2 motor out of a British LSE Rangie, but no matter how hard I tried, it hated water. In hindsight I should have relocated the coil.
I think Barefoot Dave has it nailed. My next project was to get a County & do as he says with a wrecked Perentie. Just missed out on one at last auction as it was heading over 5k by the time freight & GST etc was added.
A bit of work in it but then you have a long life vehicle. Finding a reasonable County is getting hard these days too.
Sounds like there is a good unit in atherton worth grabbing![]()
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Nope, but when i was in the Engineer's i did enjoy setting demolition charges, however whilst i would love a project, bit hard at the moment, hence a MY14 Defender is on order.
Now a 6*6 Inter would be a recovery vehicle, with that monster winch they had.

Hi All
Guys I have a locked 4wd hino tilt tray as well as my Mitsubishi :-} it's all about getting into tight locations with a 4wd.
I guess I need a rethink on the idea - was thinking of either a new one or a second hand one of puma age, oh and a camera for a few good video's too - anyone got any idea's on them as well.
Regards Mark
A late model Puma Defender would have to many electronics in it,the simple 4BD1 in a hard top Perentie (converted canvas) would suit better, you could get the hard top bits from Landy wreckers like British Off Road near Nambour,or Allan Jennings at Gympie![]()
Hi All
Uncle Ho would it be easier to rebody my 120 with a dualcab do you know ? or does any one else.
Regards Mark
