    probably for insurance reasons
I am fairly sure ocean liners are classes of ships that cross open oceans like the queen mary2 that crosses the atlantic from england to the usa. they are built to cope with massive seas for long periods were cruise liners tend to stay closer to the coast and avoid rough seas. as far as i know there is very few true ocean liners in service compared to cruise liners.

Do you have to own a button up shirt, lace up shoes and a pair of long pants to be allowed to take a trip on one of those thingy's ?

I have booked a cruise on Voyager of the seas in Feb. There is a good web site called Ozcruising.com and there are reviews of the various ships posted there. Good luck, and enjoy

Well, I'm crossing the Atlantic in Radiance of the seas....Southampton-Ft Lauderdale.

If it sinks you know I should have gone on an ocean liner.

Cruise liners can and occasionally do cross oceans. They have to out of necessity when for example changing from their Mediteranean season to Caribean season.
It's the ocean liners that are specifically built for ocean crossings. They are generally far more robust to tackle storms at sea and faster in order to keep to schedule irrespective of most weather conditions.

Have just come back from a 12 night south pacific cruise on Rhapsody of the sea. Wasnt my thing but I don't play tourist very well. Staff were great. We encountered 6m swells though chasing cyclone lucy and missed out visiting 1 fijian port because of it. Definitely an experience worth trying.

We took a cruise and they allow lots of bogans on board, once you've been on a cruise you get spammed every week for years after.
I will not go on another.
