    My Disastrous Trip Home

Went up to Glouster on Monday to have a look at and order some rear drawers from Drifta.

On my way home I stopped at Dubbo for fuel. When I got out I noticed the rear tyre was flat.(and ultimately stuffed) I then noticed a bulge in the RHF tyre.

I then proceeded to fill my TD5 with petrol, yep you read correct, premium unleaded!

I then had a person who was walking past help me push the disco off the forecourt to start repairs. As luck would have it he lived next door, was on his way to work but said his dad was home if I needed anything.

After sorting the fuel problem I proceeded to change the flat tyre only to find the jack did not work. It looks brand new and I suspect it has never been used.

I struggled to lift it with the bloke next door's fimsy scissor jack from his Camry.

But wait there's more! Just when I thought things could not get any worse I went to take the spare off the door and found it had a locking nut on it.

Having recently ditched the locking nuts from the four wheels I did not put the tool back in the car. I did not expect the spare to have one.

I drove into get fuel at 9.30 pm and it was 12.30 when I left.

If it was not for the good samaritan living next door I would have had to stay and wait till morning to go and purchase necessary tools, eg. bucket and a siphon hose, try and borrow a jack somewhere etc.

When I finished he even offered me a bed for the night.

Due to the bulge in the front tyre, I then had to nurse the vehicle home with the cruise set at 90kph. It was a slow trip home.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I'm a bit surprised you didn't stick the dodgy tyre on the back Dave.

Just remember - things can only get better.

I just took off all my locking nuts as going on a 2 month trip and don't want to lose or break my key and be stuck . ( including the spare)

I would have if I had a working jack. It was a big enough struggle just to do the one with the ****y little scissor jack.

As for the fuel, I don't feel so stupid now. I have just got back from footy training and having told the story one person asked me if it was a Caltex, which it was.

He said he was talking to someone who did the same with a VW. When the flat bed arrived he said he gets one a week from Caltex outlets.
