Thread: Managing credit

I am retired, I use a credit card daily, in fact to pay most things, & I am not inept with my finances. Whatever I spend every month, I repay, in full, at the end of that month.
That means that at the end of the bankcard "period", I can have used the Bank's money for up to 59 days & have paid NO interest, which is what I do, EVERY month.
People/do-gooders, blame the banks for almost all of their woes, the simple fact is, that if you use just a little bit of COMMON SENSE, you can utilise all of any Bank's facilities for NOTHING.

Credit isn't wrong, its useful, but 18% interest is obscene, I think.

If you think 18% interest on the amount people would have on a credit card is tough, imagine what it was like for those of us who were paying 18% on our home loan.

Well don't get a Credit Card with 18% interest - no one is forcing you to use a card with that interest rate.

Plenty down less than 12%

I remember when my mortgage was 16.5% in the days before Hawke and Keating freed up the 'Banana Republic' financial system we had inherited from previous governments.
You're right Garrycol, that's exactly what we've done, already got one. We're voting with our feet.

We use our credit card for everything we buy each month, our savings are earning interest through the month, then pay the c/card out in full ON the due date and I can't remember when we last paid interest. We also get some nice gifts for using our c/card as others have said
