Thread: WHAT'S THE BEST AND WORST CONCERT YOU HAVE BEEN TO?

Best: INXS at the beginning of their fame just as Burn For You was charting at the Orange Ex Services Club with about 800 other punters.

Worst: Van Halen with Gary Cherone at AIS arena in Canberra, the most disappointing thing was that I could have seen Sammy Hagar as he was playing in Sydney at the same time......

Best:- ACDC a few years ago at ADELAIDE Oval, fantastic

worst:- ACDC Globe derby park a few years after I graduated...so probably 87 or 88?
Full on riot, car overturned, bottles flying averywhere we went, police paddy wagon (our holden p/van cage) trashed (tyres and panels all buggered!)

Heaps locked up, concert ended early...

honourable mentions....
ZZ Top, pink, chisel, dire straits (footy park), slim dusty (norwood town hall)

I worked at a pink floyd concert (Thebarton Oval with a massive flying pig around the stage) inside fantastic! everyone was enjoying themselves--outside we were being belted with bits of brick and bottles! (we did 45 min out then 45 min inside then kept changing...

years ago i saw Eric Clapton in Auckland, was allowed on the side of the stage to watch as my Sister was 'stolen' out of hospital for the evening and was in a wheelchair....Stevie Ray Vaughn was the support act...awesome night.

Also saw Midnight Oil open up for U2 in Wellington in the late 80's....

they were my favorite big venue shows....for small venue, Gomez at the Metro a couple of years back was awesome...really close to the band.

Worst concert...Alanis Morrisette in Wellington , late 90's....cuckoo....

Worst while living in Esperance..listened to Jimmy Barns ...but we lived 4kms from where he was playing ...saved buying tickets i guesse

Not sure about the best but an outstanding contender for worst was Bob Dylan at the Sydney Cricket Ground in about 1978.

There was torrential rain in the week prior to and on the day, the audio was appalingly poor. The general area was standing behind the seating on the grass about halfway across the pitch. They had played rugby on the field the day before and your feet sank into the mud on the ground up to your ankles.

You could barely hear the audio and all you could see of Dylan was a white blob on a stage near the members stand about 100 metres away. No video screens or anything of the like. We should have been paid to be there and paid a lot to suffer the conditions. Have never listened to a Dylan track since.

Hmmm.

Best is a tough one, Neil and Tim Finn were fantastic, excellent audience interaction and fantastic tunes.
Dweezil Zappa was probably the winner though, fantastic audience interaction, crazy old dude on Acid provided light entertainment, ear-splittingly loud but crystal clear sound. A great night
Honourable mention goes to the Pink Floyd Experience we saw in Tamworth, for a fairly small scale production they did a fantastic job, you'd swear it was Gilmour himself on guitar.
Worst was probably the Dixie Chicks but that was probably because we got **** tickets! Although the sound was pretty terrible. A pity as they're great.
I was also somewhat disappointed with Clapton. He played fine, but it was like we weren't there. He walked on, mumbled a hello, played and left with a mumbled goodbye. I know you don't go to a concert to have a chat but it was disappointing none-the-less
