    Auspost tracking, just hopeless

What is wrong with this organisation.

When I order parts from OS, I'll get tracking up dates sometimes 2 and 3 times a day. It's booked for pickup, it's picked up, it's at the depot etc.

Auspost tracking. It's picked up in Tasmania 9 days ago and nothing.

Redline oils from Sydney. Picked up, 6 days later, delivered.

Same story for 3 other items I'm waiting on at the moment.

It can't be that hard. The item should be scanned at every point. Can't their computer system just update me.

    Not happy Jan.

I have worked for Oz Post in the past, as a Parcel Contractor.
You will find that it is not the "Organisation" itself.
It is the Contractors who are delivering the parcels. Oz Post assigns a number to the Parcel once it reaches the Post Office or Depot for the first time.
As far as Oz Post is concerned, that is the end of it.
It is then in the hands of the Contractors as it goes from Truck to Depot, to Truck etc etc.
If the Computer says that the number has been delivered, then that's it.
It's only until someone complains, that things get looked at by a person.

If the contract is let by ozpost. Then the contract is either not sufficient to allow for the proper tracking,Or the contractor's arn't being monitored to ensure they are complying with the contract,Either way it is ozpost's fault,Definatly not having a go at the workers or for that matter the contractors but something is wrong here.

We've stopped using Ozpost for exactly this reason. Their contractors in the main are bloody useless.

The likes of Toll etc may cost a little more - but they deliver when they say they will deliver.

Might all change soon though ..................... Ozpost will probably be up for sale like everything else.
    Cheers .........

It might be a good thing if they are sold off. Postage is more expensive across Australia than getting something from OS. It usually works out to be 4 times as much to return something to OS than it cost to get it sent to you in the first place.

Funny but I got bitten by aust post today.

I've been working out of Horsham in Western Vic this week and the Perth office shipped some urgent bits to me by platinum express post bag. 2 days later no bag. Nothing at hotel reception. Office checks on line and says it was a failed delivery and item is at the post office.

Go to post office this morning and after a bit of towing and froing it was found in the hotels PO box. Explanation... Sorry we don't deliver as hotel has a PO box. The final catch 22 was only I could sign for it so hotel couldn't have picked it up any way. Most apologetic but no explanation as to how the sender could know this wrinkle as it is supposed to be door to door over night.

Anyway the red in the Melbourne QANTAS club is tasting mighty good now and I'll be home soon.

    Cheers
    Steve

I'm not sure how it works either.

Looking at my recent tracked items:

15/4 shipping info received by AP (this was in Melbourne)
16/4 shipping info approved by AP
    then nothing until
7/5 8:13pm processed through AP. Chullora (Sydney)
8/5 7:21am in transit Penrith (NSW)
8/5 8:01am in transit Emu Plains (NSW)
8/5 8:05am awaiting collection at Emu Plains LPO
    8/5 10:13am Delivered

    Three weeks with nothing

Yet another took from 28/4 to 2/5 with excellent tracking info along the way. BUT in both cases, the info only seemed to be updated late at night or early in the morning, not soon after the tracking bar code was scanned. Perhaps the reader's data is uploaded once a day.

I have two other parcels which were shipped on 29th April but there has been absolutely nothing recorded in the tracking info. I know they has been shipped as GregMac on this forum saw them go from his post office. The sender may not have paid for tracking although at $75 for postage it would have been nice!

I checked my local PO today but they don't have the parcels. They have recommended I go to Penrith distribution centre on Monday to see if it is there. No card has been left at my home or in my PO Box.

Well low and behold 2 of my parcels arrived today. One sent 9 May from Sydney and the other 7 May from Tasmania.

As other have stated above it was delivered this morning but my tracking was only updated to "delivered" until about 7pm tonight.

I'm guessing Aus post hasn't heard of WiFi and the internet. Their hand held scanners must need to be plugged in to update.

So they must be saving some money by not buying all this tech. Unknown why we still pay more than other countries.

    Happy Days.

As an example i ordered 4 shocks from Rimmer bros in England at 4:30pm last friday, I presume they are now in Darwin waiting for customs to open [Monday 7:30] This has nothing to do with oz post just an example of how it could\should work.I was quoted up to 10 days postage from the super cheap mob when i inquired on friday.
