Thread: 94 disco price

hi all as im looking for a disco had alook at one yesterday..94 model 115000klm one local owner v8 auto air cruise electrics arb b bar hayman reece tow bar it is in imac condition not a mark inside..its at a toyota dealer for $14990 how does that fair :?: :?: :?: :?: thanks in advance

Hi Craigo, V8 disco's are most definitely not efficient machines, well not compared to the TDi, thats why i looked around for the TDi, I get between 9.5 and 12L/100km. $14990 does seem steep considering how common the V8 disco is on the used car market, even though dealer cars are generally more pricey than private sales, with fuel prices going up more and more people will be selling them cause they can afford to run them. My advice is to look around for a good well maintained TDi, they might not go as fast as the V8 but mine keeps up well out on country roads around lithgow, up and down hills requires a bit of gear usage to keep revs up but it is so much cheaper to run, mind you the engines are a bit more expensive to recondition if you get a dud, each have their positives and negatives. I paid $16000 for my 98 TDi manual with 160000km on the clock and full reciepts of proof of servicing and repairs. If you dont want the diesel look around before you rush into anything, no matter how good the vehicle is, although from what you have described it sounds pretty good. Look on www.carsales.com and www.carpoint.com and do a search for a discovery, that is where i found mine and you will find heaps (with photos), both dealer and privates sales to compare the price being asked for yours. Make sure though that the vehicle has stamped log books to proove it has been serviced, mine didnt but the owner had all the receipts proving it had been serviced and what had been replaced or repaired.
