My dog disappeared this morning. As she is eighteen years old, totally deaf, and suffers from arthritis. I let her out about 0630 as usual, and about 0715 realised that she had not barked or scratched the door to come in. Searches have failed to find any trace.
The house is surrounded by bush, and the nearest neighbour is about 3km away. I doubt if she could cover as much as 200m. Although it is not particularly hot, there is no water away from the house.
Bugger, sorry to hear John. Hope she is ok.
I hold very little hope for her - best guess is she has had a heart attack or similar very close to the house, or has wandered off (never done that before) and got lost. Being deaf, shouting is useless. Also, unfortunately, her colour blends in well with the terrain, so would be easy to miss if not moving (and for the last few months almost every day I look at her carefully while sleeping to check whether she is still breathing). She has been spending probably 20+ hours a day asleep. But she is always awake, bright and perky for dinner!
Sorry to hear John. Fingers crossed she comes home.
Did a search of the bush round the house this morning, but no luck. But her colour matches the bush - brown, so if not moving, very easy to miss.
You don't have a friend or relative with a dog that you can bring in and maybe find her?
Dogs will often locate another, particularly if they know each other.
Sorry to hear what has happened.[bigsad]
This is a bit off topic, but is a great result that probably couldn't be accomplished without mans best friend.

I hope she turns up JD. Ive noticed my snoopy is getting very deaf and blind. I keep him on a long leash nowadays or he wanders away. If he cant see me he runs till he can. Least his nose is still working. Take care. Hoping for a good outcome.
