    Selecting LED work lamps

I want to get a pair of LED work lamps to use as reverse lamps. The old ones I want to replace are halogen, 55watts each. What would be the rating on an equivalent LED lamp?

    Thanks.

I dont know what the equivalent wattage would be, but I use a pair of cree led floodlights (27W) identical looking to the ones you have there and hoist them up on a pole and they literally flood my campsite with light, I am very happy with mine.

    Don,

I used a single 15W unit similar to what you are looking at on E-Bay and it does a pretty good job. Also use it as a second reversing light as it's connected (via a relay) to the existing reversing light hot wire.

A quick search on google suggests if your current 55w lamps are say either h3 or h1 halogens you might expect an output of 1500 lumens. Your LED versions say 2160 lumens so should appear brighter. Colour temperature may vary. LED's i think tend to be a whiter light.

My 6in tigers11 led on the rear produces 1600 lumens with far superior light then my old halogen work lamp. Worth the upgrade definitely.

I would say these are way to bright for reverse lights, I'd check the legalities.

Thanks Vern, I know they're bright, but they're mounted high and pointing down.

These guys have some pretty good deals going. They may be able to help with whats best suited to your needs, comparing etc.
They're in Melb but send anywhere Aust wide, but you have to pay for postage.
I'm just waiting on spare cash to pay them a visit myself.

Have purchased from this company before for my 9w led flood and later for a 18w led flood and both I would say are waaaay to bright for a reverse light but great for camping. Sometimes a bit slow with supply but eventually get the product.

Definitely check the state legalities. Pretty sure you can't use LED floodlights as reversing lights, they would blind other drivers. Maybe Narva has something suitable - check the website.
