I'm not going to comment on the lack of commas and apostrophes in Matt's post.

was it james joyce or e e cummings who at the end of a book had several pages like such:
;;;;;;;;;;;;;:::::::::::::::::,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.. ....................."""""""""""""""'''''''''''''' '''''''''''!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????????(( (((((((())))))))))){{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}} etc etc
with the note at the end that said.
To readers who would complain of the lack of punctuation, feel free to salt and pepper them throughout, at will.....

Ahh, but they make an enormous difference to meaning of a word or sentence.
For example, if I see "wont" am I to read it as "won't" meaning "wouldn't" or "wont" meaning "accustomed" or "apt"?
The lack of commas can make reading seriously difficult - have you ever read legal documents? They avoid commas completely thus making them very abiguous.
Ron (not a teacher and someone who was never a great English student - I preferred maths and the sciences).
Yeah, that might be so, but you have to want to read into the sentence/words more, i don't so i just read it as its presented. We all know what we are getting at. That all that matters in this place. MattOriginally posted by p38arover
