Yes, if you make a single annual payment, but paying by the month it is $1.50 - if I understand it correctly.

But yes, it is even cheaper if you take the annual payment option - can't even get a Fredo Frog for that price.

    information has a value.
we the users have that information and now we're being asked to pay.

we had a fair go system before, we provide the information and help to others free and in turn, we're not charged to access other peoples information.

no one is doubting that this site is good for information.
fixes, upgrades, what's to buy, etc.

however we must remember where that information came from.
it came from users. you and i (maybe not so much me)
we gave that information freely. we didnt expect anything in return for our help. it was a two way street.

we're now been charged for give this information. we're being charged to help each other.
If you calculated the net sum of the useful information you have provided minus the useful information you have read, I think you'll find you owe the forum quite a bit...

I know I have saved a huge amount of money by asking questions on here and having people help me out.

I understand why your doing it and hope it all works out well. Which I'm pretty sure it will. For those that don't pay, what exactly will they be missing in regards to the "WHOLE" forum experience?

OK, so the forum owner tries all he can to gain sponsorship and and advertising revenue in an attempt to keep it "free" and no doubt shelling out his own hard earned to fill in the gaps. There has to come a point where he can no longer continue with his charity no matter how much he wants to.

Options are, walk away or find an additional source of revenue. He's chosen the second path obviously.

As you say, "because you are feeling argumentative" and "you just putting forward an alternative point of view", it's just unhelpful to put forward this view if it is not for the purpose of being constructive. Why try to stir the pot?

We talking about a number of serious circumstances that has led Dave to make this decision.

    im not disputing that.

im pointing out a user pays forum is not the way forward.
over the last 20 years, ive seen a reasonable number of forums go towards a user pays model. most of those forums closed a few years later.
