Hey Guys, the other day I watched the new Roothy Low Range dvd...

Wow what a Cracker of a dvd..has to be the best value for money dvd I have seen!
The dvd is top Movie Quality..also the scenery is just perfect!..it really feels like you are there..

I also really enjoyed the style of the dvd, more of a Documtery style to it, with more info on where they were going to and where they visited/stayed.
Also I noticed the dvd also had a much freer flowing style to it..Roothy,Gleno, Kenno had lots more to talk about and more chance of speaking freely..lots of good humor in it too!

Also the dvd has plenty of top quality 4wding too..Loved that Discovery 4..I think they are a great looking 4wd!

Also loved the comparison between the Disco 4 and the Milo..Roothy and Gleno are a laugh!
It just seemed to be more enjoyable to watch then the more scripted 4wd action dvd's

Very easy to sit back and call him a dickhead or whatever else,it's a lot harder to stand up and do something that will benefit all of us.
What am I doing about it?,well I'm not jumping a D3 into a creek or driving on flooded/muddy tracks chewing the crap out of them so all my ''mates'' will buy the DVD,hows that for a start. Pat

Our club is a strong supporter of tread lightly. Our driver training teaches to stay on the beaten track and not off it. The 4wd council do a lot of work keeping tracks open which we are members. We don't condone drunkenness on club trips. We leave the campsites cleaner than when we got there. We respect the environment. We are generally pro active in keeping tracks open.
So what do you do Discoman.

If you read the latest "unsealed 4x4" Mr Callinan makes reference in his 10 things he hates about 4wd...to "John" about campaigners for track preservation who dont practice what they preach

I think the best tracks should be closed, with keys available after registration of details so that there is accountability for any damage or misbehaviour. This would keep the tracks available, reduce expense, keep facilities in better condition and promote responsible 4wding. It's obvious that there is a substantial element out there who should NOT be allowed. Just campaigning for an open track free for all as a right, ignores the expensive consequences of this element's actions.

    Tread Lightly

I know that their are many Australians doing the 'right thing' when it comes to their Four Wheel Drive recreation. As an experienced Four Wheel Drive trainer, operating my own business, I have undertaken the Master Tread Trainer course operated by Tread Lightly and to the best of my knowledge I am the only Four Wheel Drive trainer to hold this qualification in Australia. I am also the only Four Wheel Drive trainer in Asutralia certified by the International Four Wheel Drive Trainers' Association.
I am currently in the process of negotiating with Tread Lightly in order to revive Tread Lightly as an Organisation in Australia. With teh help and assistance of the Four Wheel Drive community such as AULRO and many other organisations and clubs we can work towards these goals. In some cases, people do not do the right things mainly through ignorance and i frmly believe that education is one way of teaching people that certain things are unacceptable. The quote' when we know better, do better' is a favourite, as we do not always know what is right or better, however once we do know then their should be no excuse.
I also feel that it would be in the best intereest of all concerned if we were to educate and not prosecute.
The Unlock Australia group has brought some of these issues to the forefront and has allowed people to debate and discuss these issues and in this regard we should be thankful for what they have achieved. We may not all agree with the people or indeed all of the principles, however due to what they have done we are moving in the right direction.
I would be most happy to work with and discuss these issues with any person or organisation who has an interest in these issues, including Four Wheel Drive clubs, Horse Riding clubs, Motorcycle clubs, Hiking clubs Campers as well as Boating and Fishing clubs and any other organisation interested in the outdoors. Unfortunately, some organisations feel that certain areas should be for their exclusiev use and I am not entirely against this, however, I feel that it should be discussed prior to any barriers being placed both physically and through the exclusion of other groups. Any discussion is better than no discussion. Please feel free to contact me info@XDrive.com.au if you would like further information.

I largely agree with you but I stand by my comment of not wanting a drunken buffoon representing me. I think he has the potential to do more damage than good.

Yep .............. I just watched it this afternoon. Was great entertainment and like you said - some great scenery. The camera work is amazing - best of the current lot of Australian 4wd shows by far. Certainly glad I opted for BluRay when I subscribed - makes it all that much better.
    Cheers .........

I wasn't sure whether to but these DVDs. Then I saw the preview on the website looks good and footage quality seems really impressive and it doesn't come across (from what little one can make out) as just an ARB ad.....

I've 'followed' Roothy (so to speak) from back when he wrote for various bike magazines - he has (or had) a Harley named "Ruby" ! He seems like an OK bloke but I think 4WD Action went to **** and restricted what these blokes could do.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
