Thread: Attention farmers

Done a fair bit of vermin shooting in my time and i have to agree it is always the idiots who cruel if for the genuine blokes but if you are a local or regular, word of mouth is the best recommendation you can have. In other word your reputation will precede you - what you do and how you behave will dictate whether you are allowed back on properties. Every cocky wants to get rid of vermin but they don't wan't trigger happy ferals doing it.

A troll is many things in the digital world........ but on this forum, in my experience, it is someone who is able to think independently and is prepared to discuss other possibilities on a range of subjects that are opposite to the narrow minded simplistic view of the individual that (in these cases) labels said independent thinker a troll.

The interesting quandary is that the behaviour of the person labelling the person expressing an individual opinion or referencing another "point of view" (sane or not) as a troll, is MORE troll - like and often compensating for deficiencies that individual has.

Just MY opinion based on MY experience. Consider it a compliment (being called a troll just because someone doesn't see it from another perspective) and a recognition of your entrepreneurial flair

In 2007 I was back in Winton for a family funeral. At the wake discussion got around to feral animals and the game meat trade. The deceased one time ran a freezer box for a game meat exporter. One of the cockies present from the Diamantina side towards Old Cork said he had a professional game meat hunter on his place harvesting goats and pigs for the European game meat trade. Game meat is defined as being field shot and dressed. The cocky said he was stunned to find out how much money the hunter was getting for his carcasses. He reckoned the shooter made more out of the feral animals than the cocky made from sheep and cattle.

Too true heard the same, was surprised what a feral goat was worth and probably still is...stinky things

Yeah goats are still bringing a bit of money these days a lot of them get sent for processing at Glenn innes. Most the chillers in nsw are closed these days which is a good and a bad thing IMO bad that farmers can't get some money for there ferals however while the chillers are closed there's less fences being cut and gates run over by the low life's trying to make a quick dollar.

I'd say you'd have the most comfy hunting vehicle if your cruising around in the d4 not silly at all if its getting the job done...yeah I've hunted with glow sticks attached to the dogs like everyone used to but when ya dogs start going out to 2-3km I like to have the new technology to help me get there quicker not only does it give you peace of mind knowing where there at it also helps in saving time which in turn lessens the likelyhood of a dog getting injured...If someone turned up with a heap of mangey looking dogs on the back no collars no tracking gear no first aid gear or if someone turned up with there dogs that have all the equipment on and well looked after looking dogs that won't carry parvo,worms etc etc to pass onto the farmers dogs which one looks like they take care in what they do ?

Sorry for the digression, but I thought that the question was worth a reasonably detailed answer.....
