I've had BF's on the 130 for nearly 20,000K's and so far they have been exelent, no problems to talk of. Alot of the "comunity" vehicles out this way are now using them and are very happy with them also. When the Disco is up for rubber I will be putting them on there as well.

AT's........alot of highway and dirt road work here. Not much mud.
Have a set of 235/85R16's in MT/R's and definatley would buy another set, maybe a bit bigger for a tad more clerance [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]
I had BFG all-terrains before and for the first 25K or so they were quite good, but after half worn they tend to let me down a bit more than I would of liked so I decided to go the MT/R's.
Plenty of blokes in the LR club have MT/R's on and after seeing them in action on a variety of terain, they were the perfect choice as a good all-rounder. Noisewise they aren't too bad pending on how fussy you are.

Replaced all tyres at next town

The others I know have done the trip on KO's to and through the Simpson and to the Cape and back without complaint.
I have been happy with mine but keep an open mind.

I must be the odd one out here :oops: I thought long and hard about my needs for tyres versus budget..........I went for Simex Road Trekkers in 245/70X16's, they are a cross between an AT and HT type pattern but still with the square shoulders to resist staking, and aid grip on gravel.
I prolly do 90% bitumen, 5% dry dirt, 4% sand and 1% mud. I SO wanted MT's, but for me it wasn't an economical choice. These tyres were only $150 ea fitted! One day I might get some stel wheels & throw a set of Motorway Muds on for one a year offroad trips! 'twould be nice!
Slightly O/T but the Factory recommended tyre pressures seem really low for a heavy vehicle, even with the original size 205/75 tyre. The tyre shop suggested 38 psi, manual says 25 psi & I settled on 30 psi! Being new I don't want to over or underinflate 'em, what do you guys run? My vehicle is a RR Classic '85 model with factory alloys. Cheers Scott. :?
Ive had 2 sets of BFG A/Ts on the Rangie and will be ready for a new set later this year, to daste I wouldnt use anything else for everyday and general 4WDing use, get about 80K's each set and no punctures to date, just two deflated due to parts of trees between the tyre and rim (Wifes' fault!). The Michies on the Disco will need to be renewed in about 20K (now at 86K) and I will go for the BFG A/Ts for the extra height.Quote:

I'll add my trial and tribulations with BFG tyres, as Richard only knows too well!
I've had 4 sets - one set of AT KO's, two sets of the older MTs and one set of MT KOs. All performed faultlessly - except the the last :cry:
The first series of MT KO's (around 2003?) had the "bead protector" molded on. When airing down to 20psi, these seemed to do nothing but suck in every bit of mud, rot and sticks they could find, causing the tyre to leak and (often as not) come off the rim. We had 4 flats in one Harvey outing, slowing eveyone down [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif[/img]
And forget sand driving .....
The Tyrepower store claimed that the new MT KO's no longer had this problem, but I shied away from them and opted for the ProComp Xtreme's - which I don't think are available anymore. A shame really, because I've found these tyres to be incredibly good at almost everything. As a siped MT, on road noise is minimal, sand driving is a breeze (they air down to 14psi with nary a complaint!) and given the limitation of a 16mm tread depth, they do pretty well in the mud, at least as well as my BFG MTs.

There was a long period that they were importing a bad batch of tyres from America abour 2 -3 years ago.
They may have fixed the problem now, but there are still much better tyes on the market that are not recognised. BFG now rely on there reputation which is now becoming tarnished IMO.

Another thing to consider is that for many years BFG tyres were THE 4wd tyre, in either AT or MT. Statistically speaking some people are gonna get duds in that large a quantity of tyres being used. Im sure down the track MTR's will have the odd quality control issue as well when theve been around awhile. Noing my luck it'll be the set i put on. Im sure ive run over a chinese convention somewhere. :twisted: Maybe it was in the old girl and i just didnt notice.
