In SA that would mean 80 when passing.

A lot of it is lazy contractors. It should be reported. A mate reported to Vicroads some roadwork speed restriction signs asking when they are going to start work on the roads? They were removed pretty quick. As it turned out, it was fencing contractors who didn't have a permit to restrict the speed.

When they first completed the M5 East in Sydney, the traffic coming along the M5 down the offramp merging into the airport tunnel on General Holmes Drive had an 80 while the traffic on Gen. Holmes Drive were 70.

Mostly people do 60, or 70, or 80, or 90 and 120 in that tunnel (at the same time as they are playing musical lanes (4 ))so it didn't really matter, its always an accident waiting to happen.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

If contradictory speed limit signs lines aren't enough. Came across these bizarre white lines in SA earlier in the year. All sorts of combo's available, single unbroken, varying length broken lines, come together and then diverge etc. no idea what it all means. Perhaps a kamikaze bike lane down the middle ?

No explanatory signage, no idea what it all means. SA, 1/2 an hour and 10 years behind the rest of the country. . Sorry crow eaters, probably some ones good idea, just a pity they didn't share it.

A standard white line down the middle of the road is all I need when I'm of the bike. That looks like the deluxe version...

If you were in Townsville you would ignore both signs and do around 105-110kph and make sure you sit right on the ass of the car in front of you.

That is an ordinary double white line. Solid one side, dashed the other.
It means, as the photo is facing, you can't cross into the oncoming lane but oncoming traffic can cross into your lane.
The reason why they are further apart on that road than most other roads is because people tend to creep over and just catch the corner of oncoming traffic.
And, with SA drivers, they have a propensity to pass on unbroken lines. Any extra roadspace could be the difference between soiled undies and a trip to the morgue.
