I agree. Australians once cherished their privacy and independence. Now they don't have any so why bother?

Seems even medics have it in for them.

Actually the other video in that link labeled "tax takes out riders" was wrong as the red car(supposedly a taxi ?) had his blinker on and was turning left, the riders all ignored that and hit him as he slowed and swung wide. The cyclists where at fault there as well.
While I am a big fan of these bikes, the idiots that think riding at 80 in a built up area deserve what the law throws at them. Apart fr speeding they can be charged with having an unroadworthy and unregistered motorcycle and not wearing an approved motor cycle helmet, and if the don't have a motorcycle licence, then that too.
Enforcement of these regs is what saw monkey bikes being put to bed once and for all. Nearly $2000 of fines and 6 demerit points in one hit would make them think again one would hope.
It's those reasons I don't use my petrol powered push bike on public roads - only at large events. Mind you mine can do 70 and the old style brakes are totally useless at that speed - it's not surprising they're illegal.
"Electric Bikes"!!...Who can remember something a little bit similar,...."The BSA Cyclemaster"?
Pickles.
