Thanks for the rules but I do what I think is necessary to prevent a collision. I don't care what the rules say. I can always argue that I am acting in the spirit of the Law.

Homestar - if I have taken you out of context then I apologise. I have dipped in and out of the thread over time, so it is entirely possible I have missed something.
Cupabilllytea - as a rider I have no problem at all with how you deal with the cycle lane, not only is it protecting the side of your car but also is courteous. The worst thing is a vehicle that suddenly turns across without any warning (or care).
Of course, as others have flagged the law, or its enforcement, sometimes doesn't promote safety, but that could be a whole different debate.
