So helmets do work, at kid speeds. Whereas at 100kph plus their really for id purposes.:D
I too got knocked of my bike at 50+kmh on my way home from work b4 helmets were law here in SA. I was wearing a helmet. Long story short it saved my life as i was pushed into a video store driveway that had a very large rock garden out front and i hit the biggest rock. Destroyed my bike. Smashed my left shoulder, knee and hip on the rock. The helmet shattered on impact with the rock but took all the force of the impact and protected my head. Helmets are good. Cant ride a pushy any more. No knee cap. Cant push the pedal down. Still have trouble with stairs and ramps. But im still here thanks to the helmet.

Worst thing is the driver of the red ford that hit me just kept on going. Thank goodness for work cover travelling to and from work clause.

NSW lost cover to and from work a few years ago:(
Some unions and some insurers will cover it.
I don't know what the Law is in SA but when I was brought down on my Motor Bike and broke my thumb , which needed surgery. The driver of the car took off. I was told by the local Traffic Sargent that I could sue the Nominal Defendant.Quote:

Ok, the driver got a hefty fine. But, has the cyclist considered what might have happened had things gone even more wrong? I wonder how his kids would cope without a dad?
You'll also notice the cyclist was not keeping to the left as is required by law!
