Thread: Cyclists.

It isn't going to happen anyway, purely because Kids ride bikes, and kids can not be held responsible.
There are very few riders who give me the irrits and I have to use a cycle rout to go anywhere. The ones who ride up from behind when I'm stopped at the lights, and prop right in the middle of my front bumper get my goat. They're soon gone though and I'm on my way. Even when you're feeling held up, you shouldn't, because most of the time the bike you pass will stop beside you at the next set of lights.
The biggest pain for me is, when I come up behind riders, I have to read the road in front of them in order to predict what they might do. This increases the work load when driving, but then again, only for a short time.

I think we're missing a marketing opportunity here. As a commuting cyclist I'm not sure if drivers appreciate that the alternative to me cycling is being caught behind a slow moving Land Rover with the inevitable bits and oil falling off regularly.


I reckon we could get a lot more respect on the road with a run of cycling jerseys like this...

Well Mick, no doubt you'll be happy to hear that NSW have announced the quadrupling of many fines for cyclists, bringing them into line with motorists committing the same offences. Adult cyclists are now compelled to carry identification, failure to do so will attract a $100 penalty. I wonder if their ID will ruin the line of the lycra?

I'd have been far happier had they dropped the fines down to that of the cyclists.
Oh, and no one should have to carry ID if they don't want to, including truck drivers.
As for the lycra, if cyclists can wear it, motor cyclists should also wear it. Along with those funny shoes.
When I'm out on the push bike, I wear something a little more substantial. Performance cyclists should be made to wear leathers.

The exemptions for car drivers that make it easier to give cyclists 1m of space when overtaking seems like a sensible idea.
