World Car of the Year

Page 7 April RACV Royal Auto.
The Audi A6 has won the inaugural World Car of the Year award. The panel whittled a nominated field of 36 cars down to 10.
The 10 finalists were, in the order they finished:
1. Audi A6
2. BMW 1-series
3. Chevy Corvette C6
4. Chrysler 300C
5. Ford Focus (non US model)
6. LR3/Discovery3
7. Merc Benz A-Class
8. Merc Benz SLK
9. Porche 911
10. Volvo S40

Thats pretty good company!
Better win the lottery to get me one of those LR cars!

To all you Ford Focus owners...live it up now (if the plastic drink holders aren't broken)

What happened the Leyland P76?

A P76, I haven't seen of of those for yonks.
Thats quite a nice one too.
Maybe this will test ya, what about an Austin Kimberly. I had one of those briefly. Became interested in girls and it had to go. Anyone else own one those automotive slices of history?

I always liked the P76, don't know why everyone had a problem with them.

I had a Kimberley around the early '80's, rebuilt the motor and did all the bodywork, it was quite a zippy car, twin carb fed east west 6. Very comfortable and roomy, I liked it.

Yes I agree, I quite liked mine, only had it for a few weeks as I got it for free from an ex girlfriends uncle. Did one trip to melbourne to buy parts, traded it for a ZF ford fairlane 351 whilst I was there
Never even got to drive the austin home

I did note that richard. It says alot about the quality of the Disco, Overlander and 4x4 Australia 4wdoty, numerous awards in the US and the UK and now this inclusion. I think toyo and nissan might have a fight on their hands. If the D3 is a good as everyone is saying, and LR has sorted out the reliability quality control issues, we might just see LR at the top of the sheets soon, especially with the new freelander and fender coming, not to mention the RR sport. I cant wait. Matt
