I think that's close enough. It's the stable next to Craig's Hut. The original hut (which was just a facade) is just to the right and has been cropped from the original photo. It was a nice spot back then, not the carpark it is today.

Spent a few nights up there over the years, often with the place to ourselves.

That was a couple of years before my first VicHigh trip and didn't visit Craig's on that trip anyway but I recognised the area as soon as I saw your pic.

How about this one - looking for the name of the lookout and/or the nearby town.

That looks like Hill End to me. There's a lookout to the south of the town. I don't think its the Beaufoy Merlin lookout but a spot thats named Kissing Point lookout on my topo map.
