I'll get things rolling with the possibility of Pidgeon House looking south from Harper Head - near Porters Ck Dam.
Here's a photo of a well-known geographical feature. However I am after the name of the geographical feature that the photo was taken from.

Roger
You're correct with Pidgeon House, but we're not quite looking south - there's a clue in the background.
You've never been able to drive here, but if you were in the army in the '60s or early '70s you may have driven nearby in a Land Rover.
Actually, after having another look at the map, we're looking a bit more south than I realised.
Porter's Creek Dam is looking south-west, we're not.
Is it looking to pigeon house from the castle?
Rusden Head
Talaterang Mountain to Pidgeon House is a true bg of 183 deg and is inaccessible even to Land Rovers and you don't appear to be that high. On the other hand, Gadara Point is at TB of 191 deg, is more accessible and has the track to Harper Head nearby, so I'll go with Gadara Point.
I have no idea of what you're referring to as the clue in the background![]()
Roger
Rusden Head and Gadara Point are on the wrong side of the Clyde River.
The Castle is getting close. It's in the right direction, but we are further away. It's to the right of the photo, but you cannot see it from this vantage point.
Oh, the clue in the background is the ocean.
I spotted the Ocean,so I've been thinking Corang Peak?
Cheers, Billy.
Keeping it simple is complicated.
Ocean I think is off in the distance so would presume looking east. If that's the case, and the army is the clue, could you be sitting in or near the old firng range?
Sceptical of it being from the castle back, the Yadboro is quite wide and there are cliff lines either side in the photo. So logically it seems that you are looking from further north.
Could be wrong though.
If I am on the right track then I will get the maps out - but if you can't drive there then somewhere around monument valley could be an option.
