I'm thinking Laura, but it might be a bit big as far as "small towns" go.
It's "Mariette's lookout", the name of the town is also on the sign but Inc's software ate the resolution...
OK more hints: every Easter a substantial number of Land Rover Owners pass through this tiny town. I know, I've sat on a plastic chair next to the main street on an Easter Monday and watched them go by...
The ridge in the background has a tower on it that is visible for more than 50km in every direction. Where it is sited is at over 720m altitude. Remember the crisped forest.

Stone Hut?
This might be a bit harder than the usual easy ones that I post. Anyone who has stayed here though would know it. It's a popular stopover.
The first hint for this one: This outpost is situated along the world's longest straight stretch of railway. It was at one stage used as an overnight stopover for the first airline service between Perth and Adelaide.
Forrest?
History - Forrest Aiport
