The biggest killer that puts people off buying Land Rovers is the Propoganda purported by Toymota and Missin. They seem to ply 4x4 magazine editors with their product so they will rubbish other 4x4s. There has yet to be a decent long term test vehicle under the Land Rover banner in any of these magazines. When you read the test reports in all magazines they do have to concede that the Land Rovers are a more than capable 4x4 but lack on build quality and in the case of the Defender any real comfort levels. This generally is true. However I have had quite a few people buys Discos and Defenders after talking with me and driving my vehicles. Pricing second hand has had an awful lot to do with it. For my next vehicle I would love to buy a 130 twin cab but unless they do something about the comfort levels I may be considering an F250 or a 6wd cut down 100 series twin cab. The main feedback I get from people is the Disco is too short, even the current model for a family with camping gear etc and the Defender is just too basic and uncomfortable, but looks the part and has the right amount of room. This is generally why people bypass these vehicles. If Land Rover actually took notice of what most people want instead of pandering to the mind set of people who live in the 1950's or the elite who do not want or need load room or use their 4x4 off road you would see alot more Land Rovers on the road.
