P38 prices

Is there a reason that all of the P38 range rovers under 20k are the 4.6?Was the 4.0 only available in later cars or is the 4.6 noticably more thirsty or unreliable?

Off the top of my head its a time line thing.

The P38 was first released only as an HSE with the 4.6

It wasn't for at least a year or two (or maybe more) that the SE 4.0 lower spec was available

Hence what you are seeing is 95/96 HSE models sub 20K due to being longer in the tooth and probably more K's

Someone else can probably provide a more detailed response

If you are looking, my 4.6 may be for sale - with or without bullbar and rear step bar with swing-away wheel carrier, LPG and everything works!

    Except the driver.

Arent the engines pretty much the same, just the sweep volume or something was changed to increase capacity, or in this case decrease capacity from 4.6L to 4.0L. All the rover v8 variants used the same block if i am not mistaken, i have been known to be wrong before. Matt

Thanks Ron but I wont be able to start shopping until I get back to Australia in early September, I'm just trying to do some research and work out what I'll be looking for when I get there.
