I was driving the ex wife's Mazda 3 recently and I had to drop her off somewhere. She promptly got off and took her keys. I drove off and didn't realise until I was about 5 kms away. It still ran. It would have been interesting if I hadn't of realised. Can't lock it and can't start it.
I must admit I was glad the Perentie LRs and Unimogs didnt have keys. Soldiers can't hang on to a key for more than 5 minutes. I would love to know what the Army spends on padlocks very year.
Reminds me of the time when I was a new driver, and my parents took me to Sydney airport to catch a plane to Brisbane. I drove to the airport, waved to them as I boarded the plane - with my father's keys in my pocket. Fortunately, my mother also had a set. Remember this was in the days before mobile phones, and working in the bush I had no phone contact.

A mate of mine gets a new Audie,he throws the spare key thingy in the glovebox and forgets about it.
A year later his wife takes it to Noosa and leaves the key thingy in his pocket in Brisbane. She gets there and turns the car off and can't find the key,so panics, rings him etc, because she can't lock it,and it is full of gear.
She had parked the car in such a way that it had parked someone in,so she gets in and to her amazement it starts.:o
So for the last year anyone could have got in the thing and just driven away!
