Our chooks don't eat the lawn, but they hoover up bugs, grubs etc. This is good as we have not suffered from grubs killing our lawn, even when the neighbour's lawns have gone bare, as the chooks gobble them down.

The son lost I think it was nine chickens to a fox early one day,a few months ago.
The sequence of events was at dawn, and caught on his security cameras.
Eventually the fox trotted off with out a chicken,
Many were maimed, their legs broken but not killed.

I had been telling him for ages to put them away at night, but that fell on deaf ears.
His two dogs,a Koolie and a Border/ Kelpie cross also unfortunately missed the action.

He now has Deer turning up all hours of the day and night stirring up the dogs.

These modern engines are pretty smart, no matter what you do to the accelerator, the motor will only deliver the fuel it can use. You never see black exhaust smoke these days. Local is a different story, anybody who drives with a foot alternatively buried on the accelerator and brake, is going to waste a heap of fuel.
When I hopped into this automatic Volvo, I was told that other drivers reckoned it went better if driven mamually. After driving it for the best part of 10,000km, I call BS. In manual I can make it burn more fuel and make more noise, but not go any quicker. Volvo have spent a fortune and put heaps of research into writing a programme for the transmission. Nobody will convince me that some hairy arsed truckie can do it better than a computer. Anyone who feels the need to save imaginary milliseconds, by using manual mode, is a stress induced heart attack, looking for somewhere to happen.
Not only that, but it saves a fortune on clutch repairs. Scania was the same. And now, most big mobs put in AutoShift RoadRangers in the American stuff for the same reasons, and to prevent transmission failures from "driver abuse"

My old boss used to sook about us using cruise in his trucks because of consumption concerns. The R730 I drove could show litres/100 KM in the display, and I could get better results than him, when he used the pedal and I used cruise.
Truck builders have emission targets to reach, just like cars.

As for local, OptiCruise was a breath of fresh air. The loud pedal is part of the computer so pushing it through the floor only caused leg cramps. In a manual Double you'd change gears eight times and if you were more than three cars back you'd still miss the lights. The whole "auto" thing sort of encourages you to relax and let it happen.

OK, so which one does he eat? Or does he live in fear of his pets?

    That's nationality dependent.
