I don't follow football, not since 2009 or so, been too busy growing up....sort of...
However I felt it was a good game and a well deserved win for the Cowboys.

For a bloke who grew in Far North Queensland and played his first game of Rugby league at 7 playing barefoot. Thats what we did back then until Under 13s. Tonights win is epic. There are a lot of North Queenslanders tonight who feel a bit overwhelmed. Who would have thought. Tonight proved what I have always known. They make them tough up here.

There is one fact that has flown under the radar. For many years, the NSWRL provided many of the players in the NRL. Why, before origin, the NSW team was filled with the best Queenslanders money could buy. Arthur Beetson even captained NSW! All that has changed. Yesterday a Qld Intrust Cup side [ Ipswich], defeated a NSW Cup side [ Newcastle] making it two years in a row that Qld Intrust Cup sides have defeated their NSW counterparts. [ It's only been going 2 years]

Now, I'm not stating this to have a go at NSW. Just noting the strength of Qld RL. It is healthy , right now. A stat that I was not aware of, is that of the 34 players on the field in yesterdays Grand Final, 31 got their start in the Intrust cup. It is now up to the QRL to capitalise on that.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Without becoming political, let's not forget the huge part that politics played in NSW's dominance of League. Until JBP's fall from grace and the legalization of poker machines, Queensland could not afford their own elite and had to play against them.

Bob, RL is alive and healthy in Ipswich and the Darling Downs, with many of our top players originating in these areas. The Kerrod brothers and Alfie Langer started their careers as juniors at Ipswich Jets, a feeder club for the Broncos.

Took the Family for a plunge at Curl Curl today. Great way to recover from all the excitement.

    Curls and curls

Who has trouble with their better half not quite grasping the finer technical points of all things electric?

SWMBO complained that her hair curler was going funny and "will you look at it now cause I'm going out and it wont work! " . Drop tools Dad, wander into the bathroom where the item is and have a look.

The curler's curly cord has all but expired and has nearly taken the better half with it.

There was a bare wire showing next to the handle, so reading the riot act to the Misses, the Curler hit the bottom on the rubbish bin.

Birthday coming up soon in November for the Misses its a 21st - again, her birth date is on the 21st very convenient ! Just don't tell anyone this 21st will be for the 60th time will you? So a new curler is on the horizon.
