When I was a kid in Balmain East, we had a choko vine that could feed an army. Then they put a road through our front yard. I haven't eaten choko since... as far as I know.

Was it all your fault that you complained to the council about Traffic congestion & they said "Ok Mr Smartypants what do you suggest?" And in the heat of the moment you replied " **** the traffic why can you not build a new road & I don't care if you go through my front garden I can get Chokos anywhere".

Little knowing that Chokos were on the endangered list & even if obtainable in the future would cost the equivalent of a Month's wages or two Iceberg lettuces or half a tank of Unleaded Petrol.


The rest is History.

Had forgotten about Chokos they were a regular staple at meal time when was a kid. Suppose if you were to find one now they would be done exotic food shop with a price point to match?

All those rumours that when the pear season was not too good they put chokos in the tin instead as you could not tell the difference

Might not be long before there'll be choko in pear tins again, as it seems there is already cabbage in lettuce at KFC.

That is life, but even cabbage is ok when it is concealed by all that lovely Fried chicken & its still got to be good for you. Hey, maybe that isn't chicken it is Frozen Diprotodon perchance? Who knows?
