Now, I posted the original link because, as far as I can see, the information presented is factual. There are no lies told, although I have to admit, they have an agenda. Personally, I see no reason to change our flag, although I admit there are valid arguments presented to do so. If you want balance, you would do well to read this. While the RAN and RAAF have their own ensigns, the RAR is the custodian of the National Flag. And, as you know, " duty first" is the motto. The RAR has a relatively short, but distinguished history.
RAR National History
I've traced my family back to Devon, have visited the original family farm and am personally quite interested in my family history. I also respect the fact that this country was started as a place to get rid of unwanted people from England, and has since grown into a mature and independent nation. However, I also know it's true that my origins are not the origins of most Australians.
The historical stuff is all interesting, but doesn't change the fact that the flag does not reflect the origins of most Australian citizens, of whom only a small number were born in England. Therefore, the flag is not a unifying symbol, but is at best irrelevant to many and at worst sectarian.
I think this country needs a flag which all Australians can support, not just those whose families can be traced back to England. Australia has not been an English colony for a long time and most Australians do not trace their origins back to England.
Instead of looking backwards to a restricted past, I think we need a flag which unites us to look forwards to a better future.

I have traced my family back to Normandy, France. I don't want to change the flag. I think it aptly represents Australia. The make up of the peoples change all the time so as soon as you change a flag to reflect the origins of most Australians, it's out of date.
The flag should represent the country, not the people.
