    rear ended

Was travelling along northern rd this morning when the traffic in front was coming to a dead stop.
I was pulling up, but the tipper behind didn't quite pull up in time.
Everyone is fine, but my beast too the brunt.
Thankfully only the arse end suffered.

I'll let the pics do the talking..

Assessor to look at it tomorrow or Tuesday, then I find out if there going to repair or write it off.
In the mean time I get to drive a little ****box from Hertz.

    Not a happy camper.

Sorry to hear about your accident.

I've seen LMs with less damage at the salvage auctions so be prepared for the worst.

Exactly the same thing happened to me in Sydney years ago in my 2 door RRC.

All I can say is thank goodness I was in the Range Rover!

This bugs me. If its someone elses fault,, why wont they just fix your car?
Why should you have to start the whole service/repair cycle over on another RR?

Rang my insurer to see what damage to be write off..

Has to be 25,500 for it to be written off.
So looks like it will be repaired..

I think they will have to get new rear quarter panels(both sides) as I could only just close the right cover for the rear fuse box. Upper/lower tailgate, bumper, lights and whatever else they find wrong with it.
    Somewhere between 6-10 g I reckon.

Remember it's your vehicle, not the other parties, if they don't come to the party, you have rights.
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

They write them off with minimal damage like that due to there could be drivetrain damage, its a fair wack thru the bearings and cogs.
I had a vehicle run into my grader, the only damage was a bit of paint scratched on the rippers, the rodeo ute was a total writeoff.
Funnily enough 6 months later the grader had a total failure of one rear wheel bearing,it destroyed the brakes and damaged the drive-chain on that wheel.Wheelbearings were checked at the service 200hrs before the failure, just before the ute hit me.Westrac say they have never seen such a failure in a low hour grader.Could well have been the impact, warranty covered it.

As other's said, it IS up to you... if they won't repair it, but you want it repaired, take the pay out and make sure they DO NOT CANCEL THE REGO OR PUT IT ON THE WRITTEN OFF VEHICLES REGISTER (WOVR). Insurance companies like to do this to people... do not let them bully you to take the pay out/write it off (they should have to pay whatever the cost to fix it, if you ask for that), if they get pushy, engage a lawyer early on...

That's unless you're ready to move on.

    Good luck with it.
