    "Light Protected"
what sort of incoming is it designed for?

    late edit:
    from Wiki,,
Key criteria for the project included: off-road mobility, integrated vehicle electronic architecture, substantial payloads, high levels of protection against land mines, improvised explosive devices and ballistic weapons while being light enough to be air transported by military helicopters. The three options considered as part of the project were:

Thales is a French arms and security conglomerate. I doubt that there's much Australian ownership, just the jobs.

I've seen reports about another $2B worth of exports to other countries already in the pipeline, in addition to the $1.3B of sales to the Aus gov.

I dont quite understand these. Smaller than a Bushmaster, bigger than the Landrover/Gwagen. Are they a replacement for the Bushmaster?

The ASLAVS are reported to be replaced by the Terrex.

Could these Hawkei not have been used instead of the Gwagen purchase? Perhaps having a single make/model to support would have cost savings, even if they are a bit big for non-combat transport.
They also have gun equipped Gwagens, why, with these more protected Hawkei?

On another note, both the Landrover and Gwagen must have a much greater support base worldwide, from the manufacturer, than this "bespoke" vehicle.
