What would you need one of them for? Pick, shovel, wheelbarrow. They built most of the London Underground by hand. Defeats the purpose if you make life easy for my labour force. As for gaoling me for human rights abuse. Find a jury that would agree!

The London Underground is built in the London Clay formation. This is easy to dig, and this ease is a major factor in how early London railways went underground.

Sydney is underlain primarily by the Hawkesbury Sandstone and Wianamatta Shale, both of which are far harder and less uniform than the London Clay, and very much more difficult to dig by hand.

Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide and Canberra are largely underlain by very a complex largely metamorphic terrain which includes extremely hard rocks, dangerously weak formations and dangerous water bearing formations, and patches of unconsolidated Recent and Pleistocene sediments. I can't think at the moment of the Pert Geology.

Norway mass killer's human rights violated: court - Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik has won a law suit after claiming his treatment in being kept in solitary confinement was inhumane.

Breivik, a right-wing extremist, methodically hunted down and murdered 69 people at a Norwegian summer camp and killed eight more in a car bomb in Oslo in July 2011.

He had been kept in isolation since the twin attacks, with the killer subjected to strip searches and being woken up hourly by guards for long periods.

Taking many by surprise, Judge Helen Andenaes Sekulic upheld Breibik's claim that some of his treatment had amounted to unhuman or degrading punishment.

She ruled that it was fundamental to a democratic society that even terrorists and killers had the right not to be subjected to this treatment.

If the convicts of old could build the rail and roads over the great dividing range with stone picks and hammers, the new breed of "gangsta" convicts will do just fine.
